COVID-19 Update to Services
PLEASE NOTE: The following message is subject to change as new directives are established:
Effective January 18, 2020 at midnight, a shelter in place directive was implemented by the County of Monterey. Until the directive is lifted, our local office is closed to the public for counter service. Our staff will continue to conduct business during this time.
Contact can be made with our Departments Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm by phone, email and the online permitting portal (highlighted link in blue). Appointments can be scheduled only if resolution can not be determined by phone, email or online services. To schedule an appointment, please contact 831-884-1285.
Our office is accepting applications and reviews for all Residential construction and alterations and property inspections online or by email. Our office is issuing building permits for Residential construction and alterations for essential services as per the current Monterey County Shelter in Place Order.
Our office will ONLY be accepting and processing applications and plans for Commercial construction and alterations.
Please note: We are under a County directive that does not allow us to issue any “NEW” commercial permits during the shelter in place directive.
To submit an application or browse permitting requirements, please visit our online portal link, highlighted in blue on our page. To submit an application, a login will need to be created. Permits can be issued and paid for online.
Note: If you are a Contractor, you are required to obtain a City of Marina business license prior to the issuance of a permit. Please contact HdL at 831-233-6558 to apply and pay for a business license.
Inspections are still being scheduled and performed Monday-Friday with the following four-hour time slots: AM - 8:00-12:00, PM - 1:00-5:00. Please note that when you schedule, specify AM or PM only.
Code Enforcement will be accepting emails and phone calls for any code compliance concerns.
