[ARCHIVED] Woman shot in face during domestic violence related incident, suspect in custody

On 6/28/2009, about 8:40 PM, the Marina Police Department was dispatched to the area of
Zanetta Drive and Carmel Avenue on a report of a woman who had been shot. On arrival,
officers located a 38 year old Marina woman who had been shot in the face. The woman was
able to tell officers that her ex-boyfriend, Jose Tejeda 38 years old of Marina, had shot her while
they argued in her car in the area of Zanetta Drive and Weber Circle. The woman was ultimately
flown via Life Flight to San Jose Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Marina officers began a search of the area for Tejeda and found him being detained by citizens,
who had chased and physically detained him on Weber Circle. Tejeda was booked into
Monterey County Jail on a charge of attempted homicide.
