Joby Aviation a pioneer in the development of electric Air Taxi’s is coming to Marina’s Municipal Airport

On December 17, 2019 the Marina City Council approved a ground lease with Joby Aviation that will allow them to build an initial 55,000 square foot structure at the Marina Municipal Airport for the development of its electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicle.  Joby is currently leasing space in existing hangar buildings on airport property where it is winning the race to deliver its future air taxi vehicles to the market.  The company is already making a big impact on Marina with new jobs, improved airport facilities and new high tech interest in the community.  Joby Aviation is, “building a new system for transportation to transform your daily life, at greater safety and, in time, at a similar cost to driving,” said Joby Aviation founder and CEO JoeBen Bevirt.

Joby Aviation recently raised $590 million in Series C Financing to move forward with launching their air taxi service.  Toyota is the largest investor with other significant funders bringing Joby’s Series C funding to $590 million. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-01-15/toyota-invests-394-million-in-joby-aviation-s-flying-taxis.

In addition to the 55,000 square foot building currently under construction, Joby has submitted plans for an additional 500,000 square foot manufacturing facility for its aircraft.
